AEW Women’s Match Possibly Changed For This Week’s Dynamite

July 28, 2020

On the 22 July 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite, Diamante defeated Ivelisse. Later on in the same show, it was announced that Diamante would face All Elite Wrestling’s Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida in a non-title match. This looks to have possibly been changed according to a graphic presented on the 28 July 2020 edition of AEW Dark.

At the 1:49:55 point of this week’s Dark, a graphic is shown advertising Hikaru Shida vs Diamante as a title match for the Women’s World Championship. While the commentators never explicitly say the match is for the championship, nor do they acknowledge any kind of change to the card, it cannot be an accident that this graphic does exist and has been presented to AEW’s fans of Dark. Time will tell if this was false advertising or if the match has in fact been changed.

To add my own thoughts, I would not be that upset about the match being changed. However, this feels very much like WWE booking. AEW is the company to trust, but now their women’s division is being plagued with questions that should not be asked. I am looking into this thinking “Is this match actually a title match now? Is this graphic a mistake? Are the EVP’s having booking troubles again? Are any of us fans idiots for asking these questions?” I wish this company did not set a precedent for these questions from the fans and I hope this gets dealt with and resolved.
