An NFL Legends Appears and a Shocking Return – This Week In IMPACT History

Across the 16 and a half year history of IMPACT Wrestling there have been countless memorable matches and moments. Every week here on IMPACTWrestling.com we’ll take you on a trip down memory lane to revisit some of the anniversaries of them.

January 28 – In 2006, “The Icon” Sting made his first appearance on iMPACT! as he emotionally opted to step away from wrestling after he made his dream return at Final Resolution.

On NWA-TNA #79, NFL legend Brian Urlacher appeared to thwart Don Callis and hit an amazing press slam on Jonny Fairplay. Later in the show, Don Callis defeated Erik Watts to assume complete control of TNA.

January 29 – The legendary tag team The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express made their debut at NWA-TNA #30 but shocked the world, turning on America’s Most Wanted and betraying the NWA to align with Sports Entertainment Xtreme. Tony Schiavone would also make his controversial debut later in the night.

February 1 – Austin Aries returned to IMPACT Wrestling to shock Eli Drake and capture the IMPACT World Championship on IMPACT in 2018. “The Girl On Fire” Kiera Hogan debuted earlier in the show – defeating Laurel Van Ness in a major upset.

February 2 – Trevor Lee defeated DJZ in a ladder match to capture the X-Division Championship on IMPACT in 2017 while Jeff Hardy battled Lashley for the IMPACT World Championship earlier in the show.
