As first revealed by Josh Mathews on Twitter, IMPACT star and former World Champion Eddie Edwards recently signed a long-term contract extension that will keep him in an IMPACT ring long into the future.

When we caught up with him, Eddie expanded on his choice and revealed that he didn’t agonize over whether or not to re-up.

“It wasn’t a tough decision for me,” Edwards said. “This has been my home for the past five years. Between Anthem, our office, the wrestlers, the ring crew, production, everything – I feel comfortable and confident in this team. I want to be one of the guys at the forefront of IMPACT Wrestling, trying to bring us forward to the next level.”

“I’m excited to be here, so I’m happy to sign that dotted line and continue forward. The sky’s the limit for what we can do right now.”

2018 was a changing year for Edwards, with a dramatic turn of events that saw him adopt a very different personality in IMPACT and achieve new career heights.

“Obviously I’ve been through a lot (this year), and it’s all been positive changes. As stupid as it sounds, getting hit with a baseball bat somehow worked into a positive. I enjoy the direction that I’m going, I enjoy the confidence that the company has put in me, and I enjoy trying to push the limit in the ring and outside the ring. I’m very grateful that the front office and everybody here has that faith in me.”

“I have the most freedom I’ve ever had. It’s great. I get to go out there and try new things. (IMPACT’s) a very comfortable place for me, and it’s very exciting.”

Entering IMPACT as one of the young guns on the roster, Edwards now occupies a leadership position as a veteran, and he relishes the opportunity to remain in that role for the foreseeable future.

“I mentioned comfort – I’m definitely more comfortable being a little bit outspoken in the locker room and trying to help fellow wrestlers. I enjoy giving my input, as long as I don’t step on people’s toes. I enjoy my position on the roster and I love the people we have here.”

While this is good news for IMPACT fans, we have to imagine it’s not music to the ears to opponents of Eddie Edwards who have to face the prospect of his fearless attitude, chest-collapsing knife-edge chops and, of course, Kenny.
