Tomorrow night on AEW Revolution, audiences will be introduced the the exploding barbed wire deathmatch, a concept that has been in Japan for a couple of decades now. Though many die hard fans are familiar with the concept, Kenny Omega took to Twitter to explain the rules to new fans and ones who know if the match and weren’t clear how it would work.
THE RULES:
-3 sides of the ring ropes wrapped in barbed wire.
-contact with barbed wire triggers explosives on corresponding side.
-‘Triple Hell’ (3 zones on the floor wired to explosives)
-30 minute countdown timer until all explosives in and around the ring detonate.
AEW has been hyping this match up to be as violent as it sounds, and they even invited one of the men most known for competing in these matches to the show, Atsushi Onita, to attend the pay per view. However, he was unable to make it to the event. It looks to be brutal match and one to cap off a show where AEW will be unveiling two new roster members. It might be good timing, just in case this match leaves Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley in pieces.
