Kurt Angle Comments on Jerry Lawler Quitting WWE in 2001

February 27, 2021

Kurt Angle commented on a situation that happened back in 2001 on his latest episode of the Kurt Angle Show. That situation was between Jerry Lawler and Stacy Carter (aka The Kat).

Jerry Lawler and The Kat were married and following the release of Lawler’s wife at the time, Lawler decided to quit WWE to protest his wife’s release.

Angle had this to say about Jerry Lawler and the release of The Kat:

“You know, when you are doing business, I don’t think you need to choose sides. I think you stick with your profession. Keep it professional, and don’t let anything like that, you know, coexist. But, you know, he really loved this woman. He wanted to stand by her side and try to prove a point. I’m not sure why she got let go, so I don’t know what the issue was, but Jerry was pretty upset, and that is when he decided to quit.”

Angle did comment on his relationship with Jerry Lawler as well:

“Yeah, I got along very well with Jerry Lawler. He was really in love with Kat. I think he chose her side.”

Jim Ross recently revealed that The Kat was fired due to her being difficult to work with and many writers complained about that.

Jerry Lawler and The Kat did get divorced shortly after in 2003.
