IMPACT Wrestling’s biggest pay-per-view of the year is right around the corner. Bound for Glory, presented by COMDA.com, comes to you on October 14th, live from New York City. The road to Bound for Glory can be a treacherous ride – let’s enter the time machine and take a look at what the road to BFG 2011 had in store for Samoa Joe, Matt Morgan and Crimson!
In the months prior to Bound for Glory, IMPACT Wrestling held the annual Bound for Glory Series. This points-based round robin tournament would determine who would get a shot at Kurt Angle’s World Championship on the grand stage. Before the tournament even began, Crimson was the instant favourite to win it all. He was undefeated and it looked as though nothing would stop him from reaching his ultimate goal of becoming the World Champion. However, Samoa Joe had different plans. After Joe fell behind on points in the early rounds of the tournament, he was mathematically ruled out from winning.
Joe decided that if he wasn’t going to win the Bound for Glory Series, then nobody was! He went on a rampage, attacking numerous Bound for Glory Series competitors who were still in the running for victory. Realizing that Crimson was the top runner to main event Bound for Glory, Samoa Joe attacked him in the backstage area. Not only did Crimson get injured in the melee, but the damage was severe enough to eliminate him from the Bound for Glory series entirely.
Meanwhile, Crimson was not the only one to be eliminated from the Bound for Glory Series due to injury. Matt Morgan suffered an injury during a match involving Brother Devon on IMPACT! Frustrated that his world title hopes that gone down the drain, Morgan was appalled at Samoa Joe’s actions as he tried to pry that very opportunity away from other competitors. This lead to a singles match between the two, just one month prior to Bound for Glory, at the No Surrender pay-per-view event. Matt Morgan ended up defeating Samoa Joe with his signature Carbon Footprint bicycle kick, which only infuriated Joe even further!
As the feud between Matt Morgan and Samoa Joe continued after No Surrender, Crimson made his return with one thing on his mind – revenge! Crimson wanted to get his hands on Joe, Joe wanted to get his hands on Morgan. There was only way to settle it, a three-way match of epic proportions on the biggest show of the year! Bound for Glory 2011 was the battleground for this clash of behemoths. A three way free-for-all where the first person to score a pin-fall or submission would be declared the victor. Having three competitors of this size and stature in the ring at one time could only guarantee one thing – total, utter chaos! The battle did not disappoint as each of these giants shook the ring with their signature moves! After the dust had finally settled, it was the returning Crimson who connected with a devastating Spear on Samoa Joe to win.
