Saturday night is a night that no one will soon forget, IMPACT Wrestling and RISE came together for “Rise of the Knockouts” that streamed exclusively on our Twitch Channel. The night featured Knockouts Champion Su Yung in an unforgettable encounter with Saraya Knight, a Falls Count Anywhere match that ended with a bloody Su Yung retaining her title.
Su’s challenger for the Knockouts Title, Madison Rayne was also in action as she battled Kikyo in contest that saw Madison Rayne pick up another victory on her way to Slammiversary on July 22nd in Toronto.
Allie kicked off the night in Chicago and the Main Event was in question throughout the entire day. Delilah Doom suffered an injury and had to relinquish the Phoenix of Rise Championship. There was suppose to be a 30 Minute Iron Woman Match to crown a new Champion between Shotzi Blackheart and Mercedes Martinez, but Shotsi broke her ankle the night before in Los Angeles, CA. Going into the live Twitch stream, no one knew what was going to happen with the Phoenix of Rise Championship.
As the night began to wrap up, Mercedes Martinez made her way to the ring and wanted to be crowned Champion and out came Tessa Blanchard! Tessa, who had already competed earlier in the night, had signed a contract to compete in the Main Event as well. The 30 Minute Iron Woman Match was on!
After a grueling 29 minutes, the score was tied 1-1. Each had earned a pinfall in the match. At the 29:57 mark, Tessa was able to connect with Magnum (a Top Rope Code Breaker) to become the 4th ever Phoenix of Rise Champion. A proud moment and an intense match that saw each athlete give it their absolute best. It could have gone either way, it could have gone to overtime, it could have gone all night. This was truly a special match that you should go out of your way to see.
Congratulations to Tessa on winning the Championship!
After a hard hitting match against @wolfinjapan & then a 30 min Iron Woman match against @RealMMartinez .. you’re looking at your NEW Phoenix of Rise Champion.
