ROH TV Preview: Foundation, Shane Taylor Promotions Meet In Eight-Man Tag; Quinn McKay Receives Ticket To Gold If She Beats Mandy Leon

Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”

The Foundation (Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus) vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, O’Shay Edwards & Soldiers of Savagery’s Moses & Kaun)

The Foundation had a tough night at Best in the World this past weekend. Lethal was bested by Brody King, and Titus and Gresham (substituting for Williams, who wasn’t medically cleared) lost the ROH World Tag Team Title to Chris Dickinson and Homicide. Gresham, who successfully defended his ROH Pure Title, was the only Foundation member to win.

It won’t get any easier for the faction this weekend. It seems odd to think of The Foundation as underdogs, but they just might be the underdogs in this match.

STP (Taylor and SOS) are coming off a successful defense of their ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title at Best in the World and are undefeated (6-0) in six-man matches. One of those wins was over The Foundation (Lethal, Gresham and Williams) earlier this year.

This is the first match featuring all four members of STP. Edwards joined the group a couple months ago after his big win over rival and fellow powerhouse Sledge.

Quinn McKay vs. The Allure’s Mandy Leon

If McKay wins, she’ll get the final spot in the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament.

ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett granted McKay another opportunity for a ticket to gold because of the controversial finish to her match against The Allure’s Angelina Love two months ago. That match, which was McKay’s first in ROH, also had the stipulation that McKay would gain entry into the tournament if she won.

McKay appeared to be on the verge of defeating Love until a distraction from Leon cost her the match.

“All I need is a fair shot, which, honestly, I’m not expecting to get from the likes of The Allure,” McKay said heading into this match. “But that’s really all I need, just one fair shot.”

Leon made it clear that she thinks McKay is in over her head.

“If she wants a match with me, she can stay and get her ass beat. It’s that simple,” Leon said. “The fact that she really thinks after just one match and having a little bit of training at the ROH Dojo that she can compete in this tournament and actually have a shot at the world championship, that’s hilarious to me.”

Rey Horus vs. Fred Yehi

Horus looks to keep his momentum going after scoring a satisfying victory over former MexiSquad teammate Demonic Flamita at Best in the World.

Yehi, conversely, hopes to start a new winning streak after ROH Pure Champion Gresham defeated him in a title match two weeks ago. Yehi had won three matches in a row prior to that.

This is the first-ever match between Horus and Yehi. It’s also Yehi’s first singles match in ROH not contested under Pure rules.
