Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”
The OGK (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) vs. ROH World Champion Bandido & Rey Horus
Taven and Bennett are coming off their biggest win since reuniting late last year, as they defeated 11-time former ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay and Mark Briscoe at Death Before Dishonor last month.
The OGK are 4-1 in their latest run, with their only loss coming to then-ROH World Tag Team Champions Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus in a title match. Taven wrestled that match on an injured ankle, which he suffered in backstage attack by The Righteous earlier in the day.
Taven and Bennett are currently No. 3 in the tag team rankings as they continue on their quest to regain the ROH World Tag Team Title, which they held for several months in 2015.
Bandido and Horus have been teaming together frequently as of late despite Bandido being the ROH World Champion. Could the champ be looking to win tag team gold as well? If so, a win over OGK undoubtedly would earn Bandido and Horus a spot in the top 5 rankings.
Angelina Love vs. Miranda Alize vs. Willow
It didn’t take long for a line of challengers seeking a shot at new ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C to form.
Six competitors immediately stepped up, so ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett decided there would be two triple threat matches, with the winners facing off to determine who challenges Rok-C at Final Battle in December.
The other triple threat match, which will take place on a future episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling,” consists of Trish Adora, Allysin Kay and Mandy Leon.
Love, who is looking to win her eighth world title, has a significant edge in experience in her match, but Alize and Willow are hungry and talented.
Alize took a 6-0 overall record (singles and tag team competition) into her match against Rok-C in the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament final, including wins over Nicole Savoy and Adora.
Willow defeated Alex Gracia in her ROH debut and nearly knocked off former world champion Kay in the first round of the tournament.
Soldiers of Savagery (Moses & Kaun) vs. Dalton Castle & Dak Draper
The last time these four were in the ring together was in an ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title Match at Best in the World in July. That night, Shane Taylor and SOS successfully defended the belts against Castle, Draper and Eli Isom.
The challengers had never teamed together before and were not on the same page. Since then, however, Castle has taken Draper under his wing, and the former ROH World Champion and the 2019 Top Prospect Tournament winner seem to be in sync.
SOS, who have been co-holders of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship since February, have also had a lot of success in traditional tag matches on the independent circuit and have held their own against the likes of the Briscoes in ROH.
