Across the 16 and a half year history of IMPACT Wrestling there have been countless memorable matches and moments. Every week here on IMPACTWrestling.com we’ll take you on a trip down memory lane to revisit some of the anniversaries of them.
January 14 – Final Resolution took place in 2007 as Christian Cage captured the NWA World Heavyweight Championship for the second time, defeating Abyss and Sting in a triple threat match. Kurt Angle ended his rivalry with Samoa Joe with a 3-2 victory in a 30 minute Iron Man match.
In 2006, Christian Cage and Rhino defeated America’s Most Wanted on IMPACT.
January 15 – Sting made his return to wrestling at Final Resolution 2006 as he teamed with Christian Cage to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Monty Brown. Hiroshi Tanahashi made his IMPACT debut in a losing effort to AJ Styles.
In 2003, The Road Warriors returned to the ring as they teamed with Dusty Rhodes and Jeff Jarrett to face Triple X and Vince Russo on NWA-TNA PPV #28.
January 16 – Final Resolution 2005 featuring an amazing Ultimate X match as AJ Styles defeated Petey Williams and Chris Sabin to capture the X-Division Championship. AMW defeated Team Canada to win the NWA World Tag Team Titles while Jeff Jarrett retained the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Monty Brown in the main event.
Also on this day, EC3 defeated Sting on IMPACT.
January 17 – Genesis took place in 2010 as AJ Styles sided with Ric Flair and retained the IMPACT World Championship against Kurt Angle. Mr Anderson made his IMPACT debut facing Abyss, Matt Morgan and Hernandez defeated The British Invasion to capture the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles, Brian Kendrick returned to IMPACT is a losing effort against Amazing Red while Tara defeated ODB in a Two Out of Three Falls match for the Knockouts Championship.
January 18 – Exclusively on Twitch in 2018, LAX defeated oVe in a violent Barbed Wire Massacre match – only the third Barbed Wire Massacre match in IMPACT history.
January 19 – Drew Galloway defeated Moose for the IMPACT Grand Championship on IMPACT in 2017 while Brooke Tessmacher defeated Deonna Purrazzo in Brooke’s return to IMPACT.
