Tag Team Of The Year: Jay Lethal And Jonathan Gresham

By 2015, Jay Lethal had won every singles title there is to win in ROH. “The Franchise of ROH” had never been a tag team champion, though.

That changed when he and best friend Jonathan Gresham defeated 11-time ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay and Mark Briscoe at Final Battle in December 2019.

It also was a milestone for Gresham because it was his first title of any kind in ROH. He would go on to achieve the rare feat of being a double champion when he won the Pure Title Tournament in October.

Lethal and Gresham remained tag team champions throughout 2020, successfully defending the title against 2 Guys 1 Tag (Silas Young and Josh Woods) and PCO and Mark Briscoe. They also defeated MexiSquad’s Bandido and Rey Horus in a Proving Ground Match.

As founding members of The Foundation, a faction dedicated to bring the pure style of wrestling to the forefront, Lethal and Gresham are looking to “purify” the tag team division by having all of their future title defenses contested under pure rules.
