Tony Khan Discusses The Idea Of Implementing Intermissions During Pay Per Views

April 15, 2021

A strong criticism of AEW’s pay per views is their tendency to run long. Their shows often cut close to midnight eastern, with match after match of high quality action. Now AEW President and head booker Tony Khan is dicussing ideas to potentially make the show still as long but easier to work with.

Khan was a guest on Busted Open Radio, where he discussed with the hosts the possibility of using an intermission during pay per view events. Other companies use this method to degrees of success, and now Khan is considering that and a countdown clock to try at their next pay per view.

“We have great (video packages) and we could do that. Also, a (countdown) clock. If you watch the Road To or the countdown, you might’ve seen them, but that’s even better. They are part of the pay-per-view, putting some (video packages) up. I think it’s a good idea. If you guys like it, that makes me feel a little better. Maybe it’s a good idea. If the fans like it, then maybe it’s a good idea.”

The next pay per view scheduled for AEW is Double Or Nothing in May. We’ll have to see if Khan runs with the idea, but he seems pretty high on the idea for now and it may be at that pay per view we see a change made.
