Top 5 Greatest British Moments in IMPACT Wrestling History

September 4, 2018

This Sunday IMPACT Wrestling returns to the United Kingdom for the first time in two and a half years as we partner with MediaCon to present an amazing card of action featuring the very best from IMPACT Wrestling along with UK stars like Jimmy Havoc, Jody Fleisch, Jonny Storm, Lana Austin and more LIVE on Twitch! The UK has been responsible for many amazing moments in IMPACT history and we ranked the Top 5!

5. Rockstar Spud Wins British Boot Camp Season 1

Scouring the entire UK for the very best talent available, IMPACT Wrestling launched a brand new reality series to find the cream of the crop from the then emerging UK scene. In a tense emotion final Spud defeated Marty Scurll and The Blossom Twins and earned an IMPACT contract – but a major takeaway from season one of British Boot Camp was that the UK wrestling scene was ready to take over the world.

4. The British Invasion Captures The IMPACT Tag Team Titles At Bound For Glory 2009

While the original British Invasion brought The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and more to America – it was the arrival of Doug Williams, Rob Terry and Magnus to IMPACT Wrestling that brought the cultured British attitude to US pro wrestling shores. It was at Bound For Glory 2009 that the Brits took over in earnest, as Magnus and Doug Williams snatched the IMPACT Tag Team Titles from Booker T and Scott Steiner and started their royal reign.

3. Rockstar Spud Cashes In Feast Or Fired In London To Capture X-Division Championship

One week removed from his brutal, bloody, violent and memorably emotional Hair vs. Hair match against EC3, Spud strolled out into Wembley with his Feast or Fired case in hand and defeated Low Ki to capture the X-Division championship. He may have lost his hair the week before but Spud proved that he could never be kept down and traded his hair for Championship gold.

2. Magnus Becomes First British Born World Champion

For as long as pro wrestling has existed, no British pro wrestler had ever held a major World Championship. That is, until Magnus captured the World Championship in December of 2013. AJ Styles’ departure from IMPACT left the Championship vacated, Magnus swooped in to capture gold and cap off his meteoric rise in 2013. His win was not without controversy though – his victory was sullied by controversy after he aligned with Dixie Carter as her hand picked champion. However, nobody can deny his place in history.

1. Drew Galloway Cashes In Feast Or Fired To Become World Champion

Before he became Broken, “Big Money” Matt Hardy ruled IMPACT Wrestling with an iron first. With Tyrus and Spud doing his bidding it seemed like he would hold onto the IMPACT World Championship forever. Until he ran into Drew Galloway and Drew’s Feast or Fired World title shot. Galloway broke the long standing Feast or Fired curse and became the first person to successfully cash in a World title briefcase. Something only he has done to this day.
