So much for Booker T’s stars aligning.
Booker said on his podcast earlier this week that the stars were aligned properly for CM Punk to be a big surprise at tonight’s Royal Rumble event. When we reported on that, we even added a little to it by showing Punk had begun a quarantine recently to prepare himself for a job. Now PWInsider has shot down that idea and has reported CM Punk is in Georgia.
Their report has revealed Punk is on the set of the upcoming series Heels on Starz.
Punk has been in Atlanta for several weeks quarantining in advance of the role for the series and we are told he will return to the ring as an adversary of lead star Stephen Amell for the show.
If the show sounds familiar, this is the same one Cody Rhodes missed some time in AEW over the summer. Punk was quarantining to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines on set. Of course, with this rumor shot down and Amell’s well known friendship with Cody Rhodes and many AEW stars, it’s only a matter of time before CM Punk to AEW rumors start based on this. Many fans want to see CM Punk return to the pro wrestling ring, but it won’t be tonight at the Royal Rumble.
