At the Seattle Storm vs. Washington Mystics game in Seattle on May 27, fan-favorite queen and “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10” star Bosco was sitting courtside supporting her hometown team, looking like a 90s movie star.
In addition to looking fabulous as her team lost their rematch against the Mystics, she got the opportunity to reconnect with her “Drag Race” daughter, Lauren Betts, center for the Mystics.
The two originally met on the set of “Drag Race All Stars” season 10 during the iconic makeover challenge. In episode 3, the queens were teamed up with women’s college basketball players to give them ultimate drag makeovers. Bosco and Betts, the newly christened “The Goddess,” were in the top 2 for that episode and made such an impressive pair with Betts’ incredible 6’7 height and Bosco’s magnificent makeup skills and runway outfit.
Seeing the two of them back together, catching up on the sidelines, was the perfect crossover of sports and drag culture. Betts might be a beast in the paint for the Mystics, but to Bosco (and the rest of the “Drag Race” fandom), she will always be The Goddess.
It’s a fabulous collision of two very queer-friendly worlds and it really should happen more often. We need more women’s basketball players crossing over into the “Drag Race” universe and more queens showing up courtside, like Lana Jarae and Luxx Noir London at the New York Liberty game!
Who wouldn’t want to see A’ja Wilson or Angel Reese as guest judges? Or what about seeing Sabrina Ionescu and Paige Bueckers take a turn in the makeover chair? Bring the “RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!” performers to a Las Vegas Aces game to perform at halftime. There’s so much potential in this, let’s keep the ball rolling!
