AMC Global Media used its annual Upfront Content Showcase to roll out a slate of new series, partnerships, and fan-driven experiences, signaling an aggressive push across scripted drama, sports storytelling, and genre programming.

From a NASCAR-backed drama starring Dennis Quaid to a supernatural mystery led by Carrie-Anne Moss, the company is clearly leaning into franchise-building, fandom engagement, and cross-platform expansion.

Thunder Road Brings NASCAR Drama to AMC

One of the biggest announcements was Thunder Road, a new scripted drama series starring Dennis Quaid.

The series centers on the Whitlock family, a multi-generational racing dynasty rooted in the culture of American stock car racing. Quaid plays Duane “The Wrecking Ball” Whitlock, a larger-than-life figure determined to preserve his family’s legacy against growing competition.

Created by John Fusco with Taylor Elmore serving as showrunner, the series is set to debut in 2027 on AMC and AMC+, further expanding the network’s push into sports-adjacent storytelling.

Rise of the Saints Expands AMC’s Sports Docuseries Slate

AMC also confirmed a new installment of its Rise sports docuseries, titled Rise of the Saints.

The three-part series will chronicle the New Orleans Saints’ emotional and historic journey following Hurricane Katrina, culminating in their Super Bowl XLIV victory. Produced in collaboration with Skydance Sports, NFL Films, and Eli Manning’s Ten Till Productions, the project aims to blend sports history with cultural impact.

The docuseries is scheduled to premiere in February 2027 and follows the success of Rise of the 49ers, which became one of AMC’s most-watched new originals in recent years.

Yaga Brings Supernatural Mystery to AMC+

AMC Global Media also acquired exclusive U.S. streaming rights to Yaga, a contemporary mystery thriller inspired by the myth of Baba Yaga.

Starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, and Clark Backo, the eight-episode series follows a private investigator unraveling a disappearance in a coastal town filled with secrets, magic, and shifting identities.

Originally developed for Canada’s Crave, Yaga blends horror, mystery, and character-driven drama—an approach that aligns with AMC’s track record in supernatural storytelling.

The Vampire Lestat Goes Live in New York

AMC is doubling down on fan engagement with The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only – Live, a special event taking place June 2 at the Beacon Theatre in New York.

The event will feature a screening of the premiere episode followed by a live performance from Sam Reid as Lestat, performing original music tied to the series.

The activation serves as the launch point for a broader fan-first campaign ahead of the show’s June 7 premiere, blending music, television, and live experience in a way that reflects AMC’s evolving marketing strategy.

Bannerman and Other Projects in Development

AMC Studios also revealed that a writers’ room has opened for Bannerman, a potential new spy series based on John Maxim’s novels.

The project brings together high-profile talent including Shane Black and Craig Silverstein, signaling AMC’s continued investment in premium, character-driven storytelling.

Additional updates included development on a Point Break television series and the ongoing expansion of the Great American Stories anthology franchise, starting with an adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath.D

AMC and Sphere Expand Seasonal Partnerships

Beyond content, AMC is also growing its brand partnerships with Sphere Entertainment, expanding collaborations around major seasonal programming events.

This includes a return of the Halloween-themed “Sphere of Fear” and “FearFest,” along with a new holiday integration combining Sphere’s “Sphere of Cheer” with AMC’s “Best Christmas Ever” programming.

The partnership highlights AMC’s focus on immersive, multi-platform experiences that extend beyond traditional viewing.

What This Signals for AMC’s Strategy

Across all announcements, a clear pattern emerges. AMC is building a slate that blends prestige storytelling, recognizable IP, and experiential marketing.

From sports documentaries and legacy-driven dramas to supernatural thrillers and live fan events, the company is targeting audiences who want more than passive viewing. The focus is on engagement, community, and long-term franchise value.
