Friday night is getting a double dose of horror as Pluto TV’s Double Feature Fridays continues its October fright-night lineup with A Quiet Place Part II and Diabolic on Friday, October 23.
Created in partnership with Entertainment Tonight, Double Feature Fridays pairs an established studio favorite with a newer independent film connected through genre, talent or theme. Each weekly presentation also includes original segments hosted by Entertainment Tonight correspondent Emily Curl, featuring archival interviews and behind-the-scenes material that provide additional context for the movies.
This week’s pairing finds an especially fitting connection between two very different horror stories. In A Quiet Place Part II, survival depends on remaining silent. In Diabolic, a woman haunted by a vengeful supernatural presence must find the strength to use her voice.

A Quiet Place Part II Returns to a World Where Silence Means Survival
Written and directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place Part II picks up following the deadly events that devastated the Abbott family and forced them from the relative safety of their home.
Now exposed to the outside world, the family discovers that the creatures hunting by sound are not necessarily the only dangers waiting beyond the sand paths.
Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe return, with Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou joining the cast.
The sequel expands the original film’s survival concept beyond one family property, opening the world while maintaining the tension that made silence such a powerful storytelling device in the first movie. Everyday movements become potential threats, communication becomes a survival skill and a single unexpected sound can change everything.
For Halloween viewing, it remains the kind of suspense movie that makes an audience suddenly aware of every noise in the room.

Diabolic Makes Finding Your Voice Part of the Horror
Where A Quiet Place Part II makes silence necessary, Diabolic approaches survival from the opposite direction.
The film follows a woman forced to return to the fundamentalist compound where she was raised after becoming haunted by the vengeful spirit of a cursed witch.
Mia Challis, John Kim and Elizabeth Cullen star in the supernatural horror story, which combines a return to a traumatic past with a threat that refuses to remain buried.
That premise gives the film a natural connection to its Double Feature partner. Both stories place women in circumstances where survival requires confronting an overwhelming danger, but the way each protagonist must respond could not be more different.
One must survive through silence.
The other must find her voice.
That thematic relationship is also a good example of what Pluto TV is trying to accomplish with Double Feature Fridays. Rather than simply scheduling two movies from the same genre, the pairings are intended to create a connection that makes watching them together more interesting.
Entertainment Tonight Adds Something Between the Movies
The movie pairing is only part of the format.
Before the films, Entertainment Tonight correspondent Emily Curl introduces the selections through original segments drawing from the outlet’s extensive archives.
Those presentations include interviews and behind-the-scenes footage connected to the performers, filmmakers and stories behind each title.
For longtime movie fans, that gives the weekly event a little of the personality that television movie nights once had. Instead of selecting two unrelated films from a streaming menu, viewers get a curated pairing with additional material explaining why the movies belong together.

Double Feature Fridays Gives Free Streaming a Weekly Movie Night
The larger idea behind Double Feature Fridays is refreshingly simple: take a familiar movie, pair it with something viewers may not have discovered yet and turn Friday night into an actual programming event.
A new double feature premieres every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Pluto TV Spotlight before becoming available in the Double Feature Fridays on-demand collection.
The weekly lineup brings together titles from studios and distributors including Paramount, Warner Bros., Lionsgate and Radial Entertainment, combining recognizable films with newer independent streaming premieres.
The partnership is scheduled to continue through the end of 2026.
For streaming audiences accustomed to endlessly scrolling through libraries trying to decide what to watch, there is something appealing about simply being handed two movies and a reason they belong together.
Two Different Ways to Survive the Night
Halloween movie marathons do not always need two films from the same franchise.t
Sometimes the better double feature comes from finding a common idea and approaching it from completely different directions.
A Quiet Place Part II asks what happens when making yourself heard could get you killed. Diabolic turns that dynamic around, presenting a woman whose survival requires confronting the place she came from and refusing to remain silent.
That makes this week’s Double Feature Fridays pairing an easy addition to an October watchlist, while also giving viewers the chance to follow a familiar horror hit with something they may not have encountered before.
A Quiet Place Part II and Diabolic stream Friday, October 23 at 8 p.m. ET on Pluto TV Spotlight as part of Double Feature Fridays. The pairing will also join the Double Feature Fridays collection on demand.
