If you’ve been losing sleep over Margo’s bank account, you can finally breathe a little easier. Apple TV+ just gave the green light for a second season of “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” the messy, hilarious, and surprisingly heart-wrenching comedy that everyone’s been talking about.
The news comes right as we gear up for the season one finale, which hits the streamer on Wednesday, May 20.
Why Everyone’s Obsessed
Based on Rufi Thorpe’s hit novel, the show follows Margo (played by executive producer and star, Elle Fanning), a college dropout trying to navigate life with a new baby, a stack of bills, and a very unique family tree. With a former Hooters waitress for a mom (Michelle Pfeiffer) and an ex-pro wrestler for a dad (Nick Offerman), it was never going to be a boring ride.
The series has already snagged a “Certified Fresh” badge on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it one of the best shows of the year. It’s got that rare mix of being “brilliantly written” and “emotionally precise,” so basically, it makes you laugh until you realize you’re actually crying.
The always-excellent Fanning gushed about the proejct, saying:
“Embarking on the adventure of bringing Margo to the screen has been one of the greatest joys of my life. When I first read Rufi’s stunning story, it felt wholly original and most importantly human, and then with David’s writing, along with our epic cast of heart-wrenching performances, it truly felt like we had something special. Having the opportunity to bring more of Margo’s troubles, creativity, fearless spirit and authenticity to audiences with a second season, makes me incredibly happy and excited. I can promise everyone they’re in for a wild, messy, and beautiful ride.”
The second-to-last episode, “Lariat Takedown,” is streaming right now. Go catch up before the big finale (“Lock and Load”) on May 20th so you’re ready for whatever “troubles” season two brings!
