STARZ has officially released the intense first trailer and key art for the fifth and final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, setting the stage for what appears to be the most dangerous chapter yet in Kanan Stark’s rise to power. The final season premieres June 12 on STARZ, with new episodes streaming weekly every Friday.
Following the shocking events of the Season 4 finale, the newly released trailer confirms one major reveal fans immediately questioned: Raquel “Raq” Thomas is alive.
Patina Miller returns as the ruthless queenpin after the cliffhanger left audiences uncertain about her fate, immediately reigniting the fractured and increasingly violent relationship between Raq and her son Kanan. But unlike previous seasons, reconciliation no longer appears possible.
This time, war feels inevitable.
The trailer showcases Kanan fully stepping into the role longtime Power fans always knew he would become. No longer the manipulated teenager trapped beneath his mother’s shadow, Kanan now embraces the ruthless mentality that eventually transforms him into the feared figure audiences first met in the original Power series portrayed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
The newly revealed key art visually reinforces that transformation by splitting Kanan between two identities: Mekai Curtis as the younger version audiences have followed for five seasons, and 50 Cent’s older incarnation from the original series. It’s a striking reminder that Raising Kanan was never simply about survival — it was always about witnessing the creation of a monster.
In the high-octane trailer, Kanan is eager to seize the throne as Southside’s latest kingpin, alongside his new business partner, Breeze (Shameik Moore), one of the most heavily anticipated characters in Power universe history. Breeze and Kanan appear ready to reshape the Southside drug game together as a new alliance forms in Queens.
But that alliance comes at a cost.
According to STARZ, the final season will push every major player toward sacrifice, betrayal, and survival as multiple factions collide. The Thomas family faces the collapse of their empire, Unique continues fighting to reclaim his legacy, and the Mafia continues maneuvering behind the scenes while Kanan aggressively chases power at all costs.
What has consistently separated Raising Kanan from other entries in the Power franchise is how deeply it explores generational trauma, manipulation, and identity beneath the crime drama itself. Across four seasons, audiences have watched Kanan struggle between becoming his own man and becoming exactly what his environment shaped him to be.
Now, the final season appears ready to fully answer that question.
In addition to Miller, Curtis and Moore, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” stars London Brown as Marvin Thomas, Malcolm Mays as Lou Thomas, Joey Bada$$ as Unique, Hailey Kilgore as Laverne “Jukebox” Thomas, Wendell Pierce as Ishmael “Snaps” Henry, Erika Woods as Stephanie “Pop” Henry, Tony Danza as Stefano Marchetti, Joe Pantolliano as Pino Bernardi and Leslie Grossman as Florence “Flossie” Sigel.
The release of the trailer also comes as the Power universe continues expanding. STARZ confirmed that Power: Origins, another prequel series following the events of Raising Kanan, is currently in production.
For longtime fans, this final season feels less like an ending and more like the final transformation into the Kanan Stark history has already warned audiences about.
After all, as the trailer reminds viewers:
“This isn’t the end for Kanan Stark. It’s just the beginning.”
