Hulu has released the official trailer for The Land, the new drama from Dan Fogelman, creator of Paradise and This Is Us, and the series is bringing family pressure straight into the world of professional football.

Premiering February 15 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the U.S., and on Disney+ internationally, The Land centers on two families whose futures are tied to the same NFL franchise. One is fighting to save a season. The other is deciding who should inherit the team.

At the center of it all is Christopher Meloni as Cleveland Browns head coach Danny Roarke, a man running out of chances after several disappointing seasons. His last opportunity to turn the franchise around rests on a newly drafted Ohio State quarterback who also happens to be his son.

That relationship immediately gives the football drama a more personal edge. Every decision Danny makes as a coach also has consequences as a father, and every success or failure on the field threatens to follow both men home.

A Football Story Built Around Family Pressure

The new trailer sets up a series where the games are only one part of the conflict.

Danny is under pressure to produce results for a franchise whose fanbase is tired of waiting, but the arrival of his son as the team’s new quarterback complicates every part of that challenge. What might look like a dream pairing from the outside also creates the possibility of resentment, scrutiny and impossible expectations.

A coach can bench a struggling player.

Doing that when the player is your son is something else entirely.

That tension fits naturally into Fogelman’s storytelling style, where family relationships often become the place where larger ambitions, disappointments and unresolved emotions finally collide.

The Land appears to be using football in much the same way. The NFL setting gives the series scale, but the emotional stakes come from people trying to figure out what they owe to their families, what they owe to themselves and how much pressure those relationships can survive.

Ownership Brings Its Own Family Battle

The Roarkes are not the only family facing a major decision.

William H. Macy plays team owner Hal Durkin, who must decide which of his two daughters is best prepared to take over the organization.

That succession story creates a second power struggle running parallel to the quarterback and coaching drama. While one family is trying to survive the immediate pressure of the season, another is confronting the future of the franchise itself.

The setup gives The Land room to move between the field and the front office without treating either side as background.

Winning matters.

So does control.

And when both are tied to family, every professional decision becomes personal.

The Cast Gives The Land Plenty of Firepower

The ensemble includes Christopher Meloni, Mandy Moore, Chace Crawford, Sam Corlett, Tanner Zagarino, Chloe Bennet, Bridget Moynahan, William H. Macy and Omar Epps.

That lineup gives the series a mix of performers with backgrounds across family drama, crime, action and character-driven television, which should help support a story balancing locker-room pressure with boardroom conflict.

The trailer suggests The Land is not interested in treating football strictly as spectacle. The larger draw is what happens when the people responsible for the franchise begin making decisions that affect both the business and the relationships around them.

That is where the premise becomes more than a standard sports drama.

Cleveland Becomes More Than a Backdrop

The series also builds its tension around a fanbase that wants results now.

After years of disappointment, the fictionalized Cleveland Browns organization in The Land is facing the kind of pressure that stretches far beyond one coach or quarterback. A losing season affects jobs, ownership decisions, public confidence and the identity of a city emotionally invested in its team.

That gives the show another layer of stakes.

The family drama is intimate, but the consequences are public.

Every mistake happens in front of thousands of fans.

Every decision becomes something people can debate.

And for Danny Roarke, the question is not simply whether he can save his job. It is whether he can rebuild a team while navigating the complicated reality of placing his own son at the center of that effort.

Dan Fogelman Returns to Family Drama With a Sports Twist

Fogelman serves as creator, showrunner and executive producer, continuing his interest in stories where family relationships carry as much weight as the larger premise surrounding them.

He is joined by executive producers Jess Rosenthal, Kevin Falls and Justin Adler, with David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold and Jason T. Reed executive producing for Skydance Sports.

The series is produced by 20th Television and Skydance Sports.

The Land premieres February 15 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the U.S., with Disney+ carrying the series internationally.

For a show built around football, the trailer makes one thing clear: the real battles may not be decided by the scoreboard.

Sometimes the hardest decisions happen after everyone leaves the field.
