Few things in Las Vegas contain limitless options to have fun than the ever-growing Area15. On June 20, at their Mega Block Party, the crowd buzzed with excitement and anticipation of the first rides on the Eye Dropper.
Grand Opening Launch, Vegas-Style
The ceremonial grand opening included eyeball-themed swag bags, eyeball performers (yes, you read that correctly), eye-shaped snacks, and cocktails for VIPs to enjoy ahead of the single-drop ride launch.
Featuring a performance by Tritonal, fireworks and free rides after the launch, the grand opening event was the place to be Saturday night. Guests, including Las Vegas Aces players (Dana Evans, Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, and Janiah Barker), got to mingle, network, and enjoy everything Vox Agency and Area15 put together for the event. Both Golden Knights and Aces mascots were working the crowd leading up to the Eye Dropper launch.
The impressive 200-foot tall thrill ride is located in Zone 2 and looks like the Eye of Sauron, peering down at us mere mortals. It’s a groundbreaking attraction that effortlessly blurs the line between high-thrill amusement and avant-garde art installation. Standing as a towering, hypnotic beacon visible from across the entire campus, the ride’s all-seeing eye serves as an irresistible siren song for visitors long before they even approach the base.
Inspired by psychedelic art and altered states of perception, Eye Dropper transforms the classic drop ride into a fully immersive, dimension-driving spectacle where guests aren’t merely passive riders, they are chosen, launched, and woven directly into the narrative. It is a multi-sensory masterpiece designed to be seen, heard, and felt from every corner of the venue, ensuring that every detail challenges the boundaries between observer and participant.
Know Before You Ride
The Eye Dropper literally takes you all the way up, shoots you back down, and you’re up and down until the ride ends, which is obviously thrilling but can be disorienting, which is why there are rules. From Area15’s website:
- Height: Min 4′ / Max 6’9″
- Weight: Min 80 lbs / Max 300 lbs
- High-intensity vertical thrill ride built around speed, force, and precision
- Riders launch skyward before entering moments of weightless suspension
- Signature high-drop experience engineered for maximum adrenaline
- Combines rapid acceleration with controlled free-fall movement
- Delivers powerful g-force moments designed to heighten excitement
- Guest restrictions may include pregnancy, heart conditions, back or neck injuries, motion sensitivity, seizure disorders, height and restraint requirements, and no loose articles permitted.
For those wanting to face their fears or dare their peers, the Eye Dropper is available with select Area15 experience passes, Access Levels 1-4, some of which includes Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart and Universal Horror Unleashed.
