Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that Mortal Kombat II, the latest chapter in the blockbuster video game franchise, will make its home entertainment debut on Premium Digital June 9, followed by 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD releases on July 28.
Following its theatrical run, the brutal sequel brings the fight home as Earth’s champions prepare for their most dangerous battle yet. This time, fan-favorite warriors are joined by one of the franchise’s most iconic characters, Johnny Cage, as they face the growing threat of Shao Kahn and a conflict that could determine the fate of Earthrealm itself.
Karl Urban Steps Into the Role of Johnny Cage
One of the film’s biggest draws is the introduction of Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, a fan-favorite character who has been a staple of the Mortal Kombat franchise for decades. Urban joins a returning ensemble that includes Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada.
The sequel once again places Earthrealm’s defenders in a brutal fight for survival as the forces of Outworld continue their relentless pursuit of domination.
Director Simon McQuoid returns to helm the follow-up to 2021’s Mortal Kombat, working from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater based on the legendary video game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.
Digital Release Begins June 9
Beginning June 9, fans will be able to purchase or rent Mortal Kombat II through participating digital retailers, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and other major platforms.
The digital release arrives less than a month before physical media collectors can add the film to their libraries.

Expanding the Mortal Kombat Universe
Since its debut in arcades more than three decades ago, Mortal Kombat has grown into one of gaming’s most successful and recognizable franchises. The property has expanded beyond video games into animated films, comic books, television projects, and live-action features, with the newest film continuing that legacy.
For longtime fans, the addition of Johnny Cage and the escalating conflict against Shao Kahn represent some of the franchise’s most anticipated story developments, bringing the cinematic universe closer to the iconic tournament mythology that helped make Mortal Kombat a global phenomenon.
Mortal Kombat II arrives on Premium Digital June 9 before making its 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD debut on July 28.
