Here’s a preview of Episode No. 500 of “Ring of Honor Wrestling,” which premieres Thursday night at 8 p.m. Eastern on Best On The Planet.

Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe

The Briscoe brothers have been in Ring of Honor since Day One, so it’s only fitting that they take part in the main event of this landmark episode.

And since the Briscoes have never done things the conventional way, it’s also fitting that the
undisputed greatest tag team in ROH history will be fighting each other rather than side by side.

The brothers haven’t been on the same page in months, so Papa Briscoe told Jay and Mark they need to settle things between them before they team up again. When the family patriarch speaks, his sons listen.

Of course, it won’t be the first time Dem Boys from Sandy Fork, Del., have wrestled each other in an ROH ring.

In Mark’s debut match in ROH back in 2002, he defeated Jay. When Jay was ROH World Champion in 2013, he successfully defended the title against Mark. Jay also defeated Mark in a 2007 match.

The battles between the brothers actually began long before they became pro wrestlers.

“When I came home from the hospital [as a baby], there he was, ready to fight,” Mark said. “Look at my nose; that thing was as straight as can be. Look at these [missing front] teeth. They was all there until Jay.”

Said Jay: “It’s like the fight that never ends. It’s how we were born. It’s how we were raised. We’re competitive.”

Regardless of which Briscoe prevailed in their previous ROH meetings, every bout was an all-out war, and it undoubtedly will be no different this time.

“Let’s get out there, let’s compete, let’s get after it,” Jay said. “Let’s whup each other’s ass!”

ROH Pure Title Match: Champion Jonathan Gresham vs. Jay Lethal

This bout may not be brother versus brother, but it is best friend versus best friend and Foundation member versus Foundation member.

Unlike the showdown between the Briscoes, this match — which was demanded by Honor Nation on the ROH The Experience Facebook page — is unlikely to get out of control, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be every bit as intense and competitive.

After all, the ROH Pure Title is on the line.

“It would be the biggest disrespect, it would be the biggest slap in the face if I didn’t come into this match trying to take away the one thing that Jonathan Gresham has worked his whole life for — that’s the Ring of Honor Pure Championship,” said Lethal, who held the Pure Title in 2005. “He is expecting me to do so. He’s expecting me to come to the ring with everything that I have, as we show the world what real professional wrestling is all about.”

Gresham, who has successfully defended the Pure Title since winning it in a tournament in November, knows he’s in store for his toughest challenge yet — and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Let’s go in here, Jay, show this locker room, let’s show the world, what true, pure professional wrestling is,” Gresham said.

This will be the fifth time Lethal and Gresham have wrestled each other. Lethal won the first three — including an instant classic Iron Man Match in 2018 for the ROH World Title when Lethal was champion — but Gresham was victorious in the most recent one, at Death Before Dishonor in 2019.
