Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”
Violence Unlimited (Brody King, Homicide & Chris Dickinson) vs. La Facción Ingobernable (RUSH, Kenny King & Bestia del Ring)
Brody King learned the hard way that no one man stands a chance against La Faccion Ingobernable. He knew he needed allies, men who like him are every bit as tough, nasty and violent as LFI.
Brody found such men in former ROH World Champion Homicide, Dickinson and Tony Deppen. Together as Violence Unlimited, they burst onto the scene at the 19th Anniversary pay-per-view last month by laying out LFI (as well as The Foundation’s Jay Lethal, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time).
VU is out to prove that there is honor in violence, and their campaign begins with this six-man showdown against ROH’s ungovernables.
“LFI has had the numbers against me, but look at me now,” Brody said. “The underrated (Homicide), unappreciated (Dickinson) and undervalued (Deppen). We are here to establish dominance. This is Violence Unlimited. And we’re not coming for the crown. We’re coming for your head!
LFI is looking to get back on track after a humbling night at 19th Anniversary. In addition to being attacked by VU at the end of the show, LFI lost two of its three title matches. Only ROH World Champion RUSH escaped with his title.
“Brody King has emerged from underneath the rocks or the slime or the dumpster, wherever you come from, and you brought a whole bunch of garbage with you,” Kenny King said. “Make no mistake. We took a stumble at the Anniversary show. But the main goal, the ultimate power, still lies with the ultimate guy, the No. 1 guy (RUSH).”
“Infinite” Eli Isom vs. “The Mile High Mangum” Dak Draper
Two rising stars who appear destined to be wearing championship gold in the future will square off in a one-on-one match for the first time, but certainly not the last.
Since returning to ROH last month, Isom has recorded impressive victories over Rey Horus and LSG. In 2018, less than a year into his career, Isom scored pinfalls on former ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels and Shane Taylor.
Draper, the 2019 Top Prospect Tournament winner, is 10-2 (.833) in one-on-one matches in his ROH career. His only defeats were to then-ROH World Television Champion Dragon Lee last year and ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham at 19th Anniversary.
Draper just moved from the Pure Title division back into the Television Title division, and a win over Isom, who is No. 5 in the TV Title rankings, would immediately re-establish Draper as a contender.
Draper said there are a lot of similarities between him and Isom, but there’s one major difference.
“I find my happiness when I’m moving up the card, when I’m becoming more and more successful to get more and more attention from people for how successful I am,” Draper said. “Eli is just as happy if he’s in the main event, as he is when he’s in the first match, as he is if he’s in the back just helping out. He’s happy to be here because he loves wrestling so much. He’s happy to participate.”
Draper said he would award Isom a participation ribbon after defeating him. Not surprisingly, Isom took exception to Draper’s condescending comments.
“I’m not here to participate, Dak Draper. I’m here to humble you,” Isom said. “And those are not empty words. That is a promise.”
