We know that after losing on Sunday, The BCC is fired up and want a piece of the man who got the win, thus CHAOS’ Tomohiro Ishii will fight The BCC’s Jon Moxley in a rematch of the 2019 G1 collision! Plus, in a rematch of the 2022 Owen Hart Women’s Finals, Britt Baker and Ruby Soho will battle in this year’s Quarter-Finals, and we expect words from “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry after what he did to FTW Champion HOOK!

As seen in the FORBIDDEN DOOR 2023 Media Scrum video embedded above, Chris Jericho did not take the Trios loss to Los StinGobernables very well on Sunday night. It may have been Suzuki being pinned by Naito, but it was still Le Suzuki Gods loss, thus a blemish on Jericho’s record, and a bit of humiliation considering all the trash Jericho talked about “The Icon” Sting.
Thus he elected to crash Sting and Darby Allin’s conversation with the wrestling media and issue that challenge for this Tornado Tag going down in Hamilton! Not only that, but Jericho promised that he would bring his most violent incarnation to bear for the bout, not “Le Champion” or “The Ocho” or “Lionheart”, but rather “The Painmaker”! We’ve seen this persona of his in battle against Naito in New Japan, as well as Darby Allin, Nick Gage, and Eddie Kingston here in All Elite Wrestling, so it’s not as if his foes this Wednesday night are unfamiliar.
Still that doesn’t make it any less unpredictable or dangerous for Jericho to bring “The Painmaker” to the forefront once more, but that being said, there’s another man involved who has been known to shift his personality from time-to-time. Be it Surfer, Crow, Wolfpack, or Joker, “The Icon” Sting has also developed a few alternates of his own to bring the the fight, and we saw a bit of that on Sunday night with a more Jokerized paint option adorning his face.

2023 OWEN HART FOUNDATION WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT QUARTER-FINAL…
Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D vs. The Outcasts’ Ruby Soho
Just over a year ago, at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2022, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D defeated Ruby Soho in the finals of the inaugural Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, and was able to celebrate the moment with Adam Cole as he, in turn, won the Men’s Tournament over Samoa Joe.
In the months since, the careers of both women have taken a drastic turn, they’ve essentially switched roles in the eyes and hearts of the fans, with Baker now whole heartedly embraced by the AEW faithful while Soho has become reviled for his choice to align with Toni Storm and Saraya to form The Outcasts.
This, in turn, has also renewed the heated rivalry between Baker and Soho as the former stands in defense of everything the women of AEW have built over the last four years, while Ruby and her ilk do nothing but denigrate what’s been established, talking as if an AEW Women’s Division only exists because of their efforts.
Well come Wednesday night, for the first time on television since their Las Vegas clash in 2022, and in a rematch of their HOUSE RULES: TUPELO fight earlier in June, Ruby Soho and The Good Doctor will go one-on-one with a Semi-Finals fight against Skye Blue at stake! With three one-on-one clashes on the books, Dr. Baker has run the table against Ruby, the latter’s victories coming in tags, trios, and a Three Way with Toni Storm back in February, so Soho looks to break this curse that seems to have been created!
Will 2023 be a repeat of 2022’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, or will The Outcasts reliance on the numbers game be the key to a Ruby Soho victory?
G1 REMATCH…
“The Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii vs. “Death Rider” Jon Moxley
July 19, 2019, Korakuen Hall, Night 6 of the G1 Climax Tournament; Jon Moxley and Tomohiro Ishii both come into the fight with 4 points to their record thanks to Mox beating Jeff Cobb and Taichi while Ishii toppled Jeff Cobb and Jay White. As the tournament played out over the next several weeks, neither man would win the B Block as Moxley finished with 10 points to Jay White’s 12 while Ishii had 8. A rather frustrating turn of events for Ishii given that he actually beat White in their second B Block match, but such is the wild unpredictability of the G1.
While that wasn’t the last time Ishii and Jon Moxley locked horns, it would be their only singles encounter prior to this Wednesday night in Hamilton. Of their other fights prior to FORBIDDEN DOOR 2023 this past Sunday, one tag and two trios, the numbers tilt slightly in the favor of Mox’s teams, as he and Shota Umino won their G1 CLIMAX: DAY 5 tag, and those two, along with Wheeler Yuta, repeated the feat for NJPW STRONG RESURGENCE 2023 four years later against Ishii, Kazuchika Okada, and Rocky Romero.
The exception prior to Sunday night was their recent clash at DOMINION on June 4th, a bout for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Championship with The BCC team of Mox, Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli falling to Ishii, Okada, and Hiroshi Tanahashi. Unfortunately for The Blackpool Combat Club, the CHAOS member would also proving the deciding factor in their fight with The Elite and company on Sunday night when Ishii pinned Yuta to bring their 10-Man tag to a close.
And that leads us to this match on Wednesday night, one pitting Mox against Ishii in match that is both rematch of that G1 clash as well as revenge for Sunday night’s failed fight. Without the distraction of his issues with The Elite, the strain on his relationship with Eddie Kingston, can Moxley focus solely on the fight with Ishii, or will “The Stone Pitbull” even a score that is four years in the making?
A KNIFE IN THE BACK…
The world watched it happen on Sunday night after “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry failed to defeat SANADA in their IWGP World Heavyweight Championship fight. All the frustration that’s been building up in this young man, his inability to beat MJF at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2023, watching his ex-tag partner Luchasaurus win a singles championship before him, the disrespect SANADA directed his way leading into the bout, it all boiled over and it was HOOK who bore the brunt.
Now that’s what it looked like to a person on the outside looking in; what was actually going on in the head of Jack Perry when he assaulted his JungleHOOK partner, a man Jack has referred to as his best friend in AEW, and disdainfully tossed his FTW Championship face down on the ramp?
Hopefully this Wednesday night on DYNAMITE we will all get some insight into Jack Perry’s motivations, and find out just what is going on in his head!
THE ODDEST OF ODD COUPLES…
Sunday night told two different tales for AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and his Blind Eliminator Tag Tournament partner Adam Cole. The former found a way to skate out of FORBIDDEN DOOR 2023 with his championship still intact despite facing “The Ace of the Universe” Hiroshi Tanahashi, while the latter was forced to miss the event, and his fight with Tom Lawlor, due to medical precautions associated with an extremely high fever.
Now the fight with Lawlor, that was something arranged by MJF to punish Cole for humiliating him into the match with Tanahashi, leaving Max without the satisfaction of seeing his Blind Eliminator partner beaten up by the former Ultimate Fighter. Perhaps he will try to find that satisfaction in some other way when both men come to Hamilton this Wednesday night! We already know that MJF will make his in-ring COLLISION debut on Saturday night, something he’s far from happy about having to do, but how is Cole feeling after dealing with his illness over the last several days? We’ll find out as we hear from both men on Wednesday night.
