Eck’s Files: Violence Unlimited Speaks; Vincent’s Mysterious New Associate Surfaces On Twitter

Violence Unlimited, the group led by Brody King that laid out members of La Faccion Ingobernable and The Foundation at the end of the 19th Anniversary pay-per-view last week, will speak for the first time on “ROH Week By Week,” which drops Tuesday at 1 p.m. Eastern.

The arrival of the faction — which consists of King, Tony Deppen, former ROH World Champion Homicide and Chris Dickinson — adds a new wrinkle to the turf wars that have been going on in ROH.

King and Deppen were both attacked by LFI a few weeks ago — and King is still angry that outside interference by LFI’s Bestia del Ring cost him his match against ROH World Champion RUSH at Final Battle in December — so it made sense that they would seek revenge. Why Violence Unlimited attacked The Foundation’s Jay Lethal is unknown. Perhaps the reason is simply that he was there.

King couldn’t have recruited two “outsiders” better suited for Violence Unlimited than Homicide and Dickinson.

Homicide, who has been wreaking havoc in pro wrestling for nearly 25 years, was supposed to face King on the ROH Past vs. Present show last year that ended up being cancelled because of the pandemic. He’s back in ROH after a seven-year absence.

King is familiar with Dickinson, one of the hardest-hitting competitors on the independent scene, because they have been on NJPW Strong shows together.

Matt Taven reports that he is bruised and sore from his unsanctioned match against Vincent at 19th Anniversary, but fortunately the former ROH World Champion didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

Vincent’s condition coming out of the match is unknown because no one in ROH has heard from him, although has sent out a few tweets (cryptic ones, naturally) this week.

Apparently, the large man who knocked Taven and Vincent off a balcony and sent them crashing through a table is named Dutch, who also has surfaced on Twitter.

Rhett Titus, who won the ROH World Tag Team Title with Tracy Williams at 19th Anniversary, wrote about his journey to becoming a champion for the first time in ROH in nine years in the latest installment of ROHWrestling.com’s Word of Honor series.

You always like to see good things happen to good people. Titus is good people, not to mention a very good professional wrestler.

Eli Isom was my guest on the latest episode of  “The ROHStrong Podcast,” which drops this Monday morning on ROHWrestling.com and most podcast platforms.

Isom talked about getting COVID-19 and then testing positive for it again; his first ROH match in more than a year against Rey Horus; bonding with his mother over pro wrestling and her death in a car accident right before he began pro wrestling training; the story behind his win over Christopher Daniels less than a year into his career; his time in Shinobi Shadow Squad, and much more.

Speaking of Isom, he faces fellow rising star LSG on this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling.” Also on the show is the rubber match between Danhausen and Brian Johnson.

On the following week’s episode, The Foundation’s Lethal and ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham take on Bandido and Flamita. Will the MexiSquad stars be able to get along?

Delirious and Rocky Romero also square off on that show. The veterans haven’t faced each other in a one-on-one match since 2007.

The rematch between no-nonsense competitors Sledge and O’Shay Edwards takes place on this Tuesday’s “ROH Week By Week.” Because their first meeting in February ended in a 10-minute draw, this bout will have a 15-minute time limit.

Until next time, keep safe and stay #ROHStrong!
