AEW returned to the Fertitta Center in Houston on Wednesday night and brought with it a wild Dynamite evening! The tensions between CM Punk and Hangman Page continued to heat up as their Double or Nothing 2022 World Title collision nears, the field of the two Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments continues to narrow after multiple red hot matches, the World Tag Team Title scene is getting crowded as Vegas draws near, and the situation between The Jericho Appreciation Society and the BCC/Kingston/Santana/Ortiz contingent is primed to explode! Plus we had quite an ugly situation between The Undisputed Elite, The Hardys, Sting, and Darby Allin that went down after Dynamite went off the air:

This Friday evening, Rampage is coming to you once more at 5:30pm EDT/4:30 CDT on TNT, and on AEWPlus.com (https://www.fite.tv/join/aew-plus/) for our international audience! Given how much went down on Wednesday, a visit the official AEW YouTube channel and Twitter feed is crucial before Friday to get all the Dynamite highlights, as well as the latest episodes of Dark: Elevation, AEW Dark, Road To, and Control Center with Tony Schiavone!

TAG TEAM BATTLE…

Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley vs. Dante Martin & Matt Sydal

To paraphrase the song, Friday night’s alright for fighting and that is what fans have coming to them in the main event of Rampage! The Blackpool Combat Club may be down a man with Wheeler Yuta in NJPW for the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament (he’s 1-1 with 2 points after beating DOUKI by the way), but that doesn’t mean “The American Dragon” and Mox aren’t still coming for a fight, especially given all that’s going on with The Jericho Appreciation Society and their recently announced Double or Nothing 2022 fight.

Luckily there’s a pair more than willing to step up to the task! Matt Sydal, in his first match back since a February injury, is looking for a fight after the not-so-kind comments Danielson made months ago about the man, and with him is another of the men who Bryan has name-checked as being one in need of true mentorship. While it’s been a long time since Matt has been in the ring with Bryan, and he’s never stepped in with Mox before, his partner for the evening just recently competed in Trios action against The BCC.

Dante Martin, along with Brock Anderson and Lee Moriarty, tried their best to survive the onslaught, but ultimately succumbed to the violence party of William Regal’s group of rogues. This time, with Sydal as his partner, Martin steps into action with a little more experience on his side, and some first-hand knowledge of just what Mox and Danielson bring to battle. Will these factors help Sydal and Martin, or will they more victims of the Blackpool Combat Club?

OWEN HART FOUNDATION WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT QUARTER-FINAL…

Kris Statlander vs. Red Velvet

At one point these two women were allies, even friends, and were running together as a trio with Leyla Hirsch, but over the course of the last several months, Kris Statlander has seen her friend circle shrink. “Legit” was the first to turn her back on Statlander, and prior to Leyla’s unfortunate injury, the two women seemed destined for a reckoning.

Red Velvet stood by Kris’ side through that, even felt the wrath of Hirsch and her ring hook herself, but something changed for Red after she fought Willow Nightingale. The crowd took to the infectious nature of Willow’s personality, even cheered her on over the usual fan favorite Velvet, and at some point Red made the choice to get ahead of where she saw the tide turning. It seems she took a look at her career, took a look at that of Jade Cargill’s, and decided that signing on with the undefeated TBS Champion was the proper path despite their history over the last year. Red Velvet fully invested in a “If you can’t beat them, join them” philosophy and has been a staunch member of Jade’s entourage ever since.

Circling around this was the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in which Velvet had qualified, and was set to face former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida. Unfortunately, following her Street Fight with Serena Deeb, Shida was unable to get re-enter the United States in time for medical clearance from AEW doctors to continue participating in the tournament, thus Kris Statlander was slotted in as a replacement, to which Shida herself tweeted “Please cheer for Kris while I do my best in Japan. Holy Shida will be back soon”

That all set the table for this fight battle of former allies, ex-friends, to see just who will advance towards the finals at Double or Nothing 2022! But first, to the winner of this, comes a Semi-Final fight with Ruby Soho…

THE GIANT KILLER…

Next week Shawn Spears has a Steel Cage date with his former accountabilabuddy Wardlow with MJF serving as the special referee for the bout. There is no question that will be a physically taxing affair for “The Chairman of AEW”, or perhaps in this case, the self-styled “Giant Killer of AEW”, so he has to get some reps in against an opponent apparently hand-picked by Max.

All we know is that Spears will have to slay another giant this week on Rampage, and that if he can hit the C4 on this individual, victory will be certain!

TRIOS GRUDGE MATCH…

The House of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews, & Malakai Black)

vs.

Fuego Del Sol & The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Ten)

The Dark Order and Fuego Del Sol have had their own issues with The House of Black in recent weeks. In fact The HoB already holds a trios victory over the Uno/Stu Grayson/Fuego collective, just as they hold one over Fuego when he tried teaming with Bear Country. Given their issues with Death Triangle as well, it seems Malakai, Brody, and Buddy rather enjoy raising the ire of as many different individuals as possible, and just getting inside their heads.

That continues this Friday evening when King, Matthews, and Black don the darkness once more to battle Fuego, Evil Uno, and Ten in trios action! There is no question Death Triangle will have eyes on this one, their fight with The House is just waiting to explode at any moment, there is the question though if this unique unit of Fuego Del Sol, Evil Uno, and Ten can find a way to overcome the adversity to hand The House their first trios defeat?

This Friday Rampage once more begins at 5:30 EDT/4:30pm CDT on TNT, and over on AEWPlus.com for international audiences! Old friends become enemies in the next Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Quarter-Final match, The House of Black competes in trios action, The Blackpool Combat Club fights, and Shawn Spears aims to slay a giant! Prepare for all the action over on the official AEW YouTube channel for Dynamite highlights, as well as the latest episodes of Dark: Elevation, AEW Dark, Road To, and the latest Control Center with Tony Schiavone!
